Over the past few years, Lowell Little League has been making changes to our programs. These changes have included the overhaul of the 7/8 boys’ and girls’ division, updating the team draft policies, and keeping teams together during their middle school years as they work towards High School.
At the completion of each season, we as a Board look for ways to continue to improve our league and enhance the kids’ experience. After several meetings, the Board unanimously voted in favor of eliminating play-ups for Baseball except for middle school players. They will play in their grade appropriate division. The Board also voted in favor of allowing Softball players to play-up one League Age as long as the player attends player evaluations and receives Board approval.
Coming to this decision was not taken lightly. We recognize children develop at different rates and have different playing abilities. However, to maintain impartiality, to allow players to play together for multiple years, and help become more competitive among District 9 Little League, we feel this is the best decision for our entire league moving into the future. Thank you for your continued support of Lowell Little League and we look forward to a great 2018 season.
